There are many reasons to stay in a villa other than simply being able to tell your friends, “Oh no, we don’t do hotels, we only do villas.” Make sure you say that with a significant amount of smugness or it won’t sound right. Ok, so maybe you aren’t really like that, I’m actually hoping not, but there are some really valid reasons to choose a villa over a hotel. The top five reasons are below:

1. Privacy

While you are there, your villa is your castle. You may do as you please. It is likely best not to cause damage as repairs may be a bit too costly, but beyond that, live your dream! Have a party, seclude yourself in a different bedroom every night, or walk the expansive property barefoot. The choices are endless. You do not need to share space with other hotel guests. You do not need to worry about late night ruckus in the outside corridors, and you do not have to worry about pesky maid service showing up when you are determined to remain in your dreamy state until far past brunch hour.

2. Freedom

When you go to a hotel, you are often at the mercy of how many guests you can have in one room, but in your own villa, you can bring whomever you choose and however many you choose. It is a great time to invite all your extended family or have that mini college reunion with all your previous flat mates. Then again, you may tire of having to the keep your brood of kids in line everywhere you go, but the kids can run free, do as they please, and make as much noise as you can tolerate. Letting them have freedom, allows you to have freedom. That is the best of both worlds.

3. Magnificent Scenery

Let’s face it, villas are not found in the shanty part of town. Villas are found on rolling hills, recessed in valleys, soaring on mountaintops, or occupying large parcels of land. The sheer beauty surrounding you is likely to entice a relaxed demeanor. You can meditate in the open gardens, run along the pathways, or cuddle with your honey on a picnic. The scenery is a gift in and of itself, unlike found in other temporary staying places.

4. Personal Food Choices

When staying in a hotel or even Bed and Breakfast, your food choices are often dictated by what is available. Whether you have outside transportation or are taking the heel-toe express, your choices are limited by proximity. Additionally, eating in restaurants offers a set menu while in a villa; you can have a different menu every night. You can cater food for a special occasion or bring along your favorite delicacies. Perhaps someone in your family has a certain food allergy or is a vegetarian. Your menu can reflect your style and needs. And the exceptional bonus of not needing to make reservations is added to boot.

5. Bask in Luxury

Staying in a villa affords you the opportunity to bask in the luxury of opulence without any ongoing price tags. You do not have to worry about cleaning or paying for someone to clean the pool. The grounds are garden are always well manicured, with no effort from you. The furniture is undoubtedly of the best quality but you don’t have to buy it, and you will never get a yearly tax bill. You may pay taxes on your stay, but it ends there. But most importantly, for a short time, you get to feel the luxury of fine linens, succulent ambience, and breathtaking views. What could be better than that?

The next time you’re searching for love, you might want to stop looking in the wrong places and consider moving to a new city. That’s right, these 4 U.S. cities are renowned for their dating friendly environments. These cities were judged on the number of single men and women currently living there, the number of dating-type locations (restaurants, bars, parks, museums, etc.), and the natural beauty of their landscapes.

Boston

This New England city is filled with young college age singles who are attending one of the more than 50 colleges and universities situated within the city limits (including MIT and Harvard). Many graduates continue to make Boston their home well into their twenties and early thirties. The night life is laid back and refined, with a plethora of historic pubs and bars to meet that special man or woman.

If you’re into sports, you have the infamous Fenway Stadium, home of the Boston Red Sox, and the Charles River and Harborwalk provide romantic settings for that second or third date.

Austin

For those who love rock and roll, country, and anything with a beat, Austin is the place to be with close to 200 places for live music of all kinds. But this Southern city rocks in more ways than one. Over half of the population is made up of young singles and the weather is generally sunny all year round.

Austin is also home to the classy Warehouse District for those eligible bachelors and bachelorettes with a hankering for a wild and fun night life. If you’re more of the outdoorsy type and want to meet someone who you can get along with, there’s no shortage of scenic venues, including kayaking at Lady Bird Park, biking on the Greenbelt, or a relaxing afternoon at the Barton Springs Pool.

Miami

If you just can’t get enough of the nightlife, head to Miami for some of the sizzling singles action that this beachfront city provides. With am eclectic mix of electronic and Latin music venues, you’re sure to find something to get your toes tapping.

The options for fun dates in this region are virtually endless, whether you want to go snorkeling off the coast or just relax in the sun sipping cocktails at a local bar. Beachfront restaurants make a romantic setting for an evening dinner, with restaurants like The Redfish Grill that offers some of the best seafood in town.

San Francisco

For true diversity, head over to the city with the Golden Gates to get a taste of a singles scene with a little bit of flair. Here you can find plenty of cultural attractions, historic museums, and both modern and classic art galleries to indulge an intellectual date.

Head a few miles out of the city and check out the famous California Wine Valley or the giant redwood trees at Muir Woods. Take a stroll on the beach at sunset and head back into town for some of the world’s best culinary attractions.

One of the greatest things my wife and I discovered we had in common was our love for luxury travel. However, we both discovered this passion in different ways. Kate grew up in a family that loved to rough it when they traveled, so she is extremely resourceful and a masterful camper. I on the other hand, grew up with few vacations longer than a few days, but we stayed at very nice hotels.

This has lead to me continuing to love staying at luxury resorts, albeit for a few days at a time, and my wife also despising her experience camping. Just like my father, I too am a Seattle chiropractor, so we do not have the ability to take large amounts of time off. So when we choose to go away we stay at the nicest place possible, in this case The Wedgewood Hotel in downtown Vancouver, BC.
Although we do not currently have an advantageous exchange rate, my wife and I decided to take a short road trip to Vancouver to see a concert. Lucky for us, The Wedgewood was offering a fantastic room rate that included the price of overnight parking and breakfast at their restaurant. This was a savings of over $200.00 for both nights. It really made it a no-brainer for staying at one of the finest boutique hotels in North America.
When we arrived we were greeted by the friendly valet, and check-in took only a few minutes. This is vastly superior from our most recent trips to Las Vegas and Portland, OR. The reception, concierge, and valet’s truly could not have been nicer. We had reserved a suite, and they gave us a complimentary upgrade to a higher floor since it was available. This made my wife extremely happy and gave us a superior view of the city. The room itself was definitely more classic, in comparison to many of the modern hotels that are available nowadays. Once we got settled we headed to the restaurant bar for lunch. It is attached to the restaurant itself, but seems like a separate entity entirely. We chose to sit at the bar and were greeted by an extremely nice bartended. He seemed to know how to properly converse with guests while maintaining complete professionalism. His suggestion of food and wine were perfect, and they even had a hockey game on which I thoroughly enjoyed.
While we didn’t have dinner at Bacchus, we did notice that meals outside the hotel were comparable in price but not even close in quality. The Wedgewood restaurant was serving amazing food with quality that could not be matched in the vicinity. After our concert we returned to the hotel and went to bed. The next morning we woke up refreshed and slept far better there than at our own home. How many people can say that after sleeping in a hotel bed?
My wife had scheduled a massage in their spa while I took in the sites in Vancouver and purchased a few things for our children. She said it was an amazing experience, and there is no doubt we will stay at the Wedgewood hotel on our next visit north.

Have you ever thought of buying a diamond in one of those jewelry stores, but you ended up getting scared and intimidated by the prices, so you don’t? Well, I guess the reason as to why you can’t just march inside these stores is because you have no idea how these guys price these little luxurious stones. Well, if you are really serious about the idea of buying diamond jewelry, you should first research about how to buy them. Specifically, you might want to research about why and how these diamonds are expensively priced. Lucky for you, there’s a great reading material about just that!

City breaks aren’t just for Europeans, city breaks are for everyone, & are everywhere. You don’t have to be hopping from Prague to Milan to enjoy a city break. Although both are famous places for short city breaks, along with London, Paris, & Dublin.

A worldwide city is break is a terrific way to see some of the word’s most iconic sights, from the Eiffel Tower in Paris, to the Empire State Building in New York. Worldwide city breaks have included some of the great North American cities, like New York & San Francisco. However, the United States now sees plenty of worldwide short break visitors in cities such as Boston, Miami, and Las Vegas. Today I have made up a list of the top five Easter city break destinations in North America.

1.) New York City. There’s no doubt about it, the big apple has a lot to take in. Enjoy taking a stroll through Central Park, see the excitement of Times Square, go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, shop till you drop in SoHo , or watch a Broadway show. NYC has a bit of something of everyone.

2.) San Francisco. If you’re going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair! I lived in San Francisco, so I am quite partial to it. On your next city break, here are the things that I believe you should do: take a walk on the Golden Gate Bridge, look into taking a boat tour around Alcatraz, walk through Chinatown, stop at City Lights Bookstore in North Beach, find a cool gallery to see at the SFMOMA, check out Haight Ashbury all of the thrift shops. Enjoy!!

3.) Boston. Also known to some, as Beantown . Boston is a city full of history, not to mention has some of the best colleges in the country located there. There are over 52 institutions of higher education in the area. Take a walk on the freedom trail, have a picnic in the Boston Garden, enjoy a baseball game at Fenway Park, taste fresh seafood at a number of great seafood restaurants, go whale watching, etc. The list could go on, & on.

4.) Las Vegas. So many bright lights, & so many things to do. This definitely isn’t the city to be napping in. Get to Bellagio Fountains, Cirque du Soleil, hit up some clubs like Tao & Pure, if you like to gamble pick your place any place. This city is full of blackjack tables & slot machines.

5.) Miami. Sometimes you just need a bit more of the beach in your life. Southbeach is Miams’s hot spot. Rejuvenate in South Beach while enjoying white sand beaches & crystal blue water. The area is also famous for its abundance of quality restaurants and glamorous clubs. Try getting into places like Club Deep, & The Clevelander.

Hopefully one of these cities has piqued your interest, & has become your next destination for your next city break. Between NYC, San Francisco, Boston, Las Vegas, & Miami..you can’t really go too wrong.

There are good cities, bad cities and average cities, but there is only one London. The UK’s capital has a uniquely rich heritage and is home to some of the most beautiful landmarks in the world. It’s also a metropolis that embraces modernity, with a go-ahead attitude that keeps it at the cutting edge of the global business community. Here are five reasons to love London.

The People

London is home to an extremely cosmopolitan population and remains one of the friendliest cities on the planet. Londoners are keen to ensure visitors have a good time and return home with a positive image of the city. Crime levels are relatively low for a major capital, and as long as tourists are sensible they should enjoy a trouble-free stay.

The Landmarks

There are so many landmarks in London, from the historic to the ultra-modern, and many visitors find a long weekend is nowhere near long enough to see even half of them. The most popular include the Houses of Parliament, Tower Bridge and the spectacular Trafalgar Square. The London Eye, located alongside the old County Hall building, offers some of the best views of the city.

The River

Many of the world’s great cities are bisected by an impressive river, and London is no different. The Thames runs through the heart of the metropolis, and many tourists choose to enjoy a boat trip to see the very best sights that London has to offer. Such trips are always popular and there are many exceptional bargains to be had for those who are happy to shop around.

The Transport

Like every major capital, London suffers from severe congestion during the morning and afternoon rush hours. However, outside the peak times it’s one of the easiest cities to get around, mainly thanks to an intricate underground railway network. The Tube, as it’s known locally, is fast, cheap and highly efficient, enabling tourists to get from A to B with a minimum of fuss and effort.

The Parks

London has a large number of parks and open spaces, both in the centre and on the outskirts. Many of them, such as St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens, are tourist attractions in their own right. Regent’s Park is home to the world-famous London Zoo, one of the most popular attractions in the whole of the UK. Any visitor who is keen to enjoy a little peace and tranquillity in this beautiful city will truly be spoilt for choice.

David Showell was born in London and is still a regular visitor to the city. He works for a web-based company that arranges the best deals on car hire Italy visitors are ever likely to find.

London is a world-class city with no shortage of eateries, pubs and bars for visitors and tourists to explore and enjoy. Unfortunately, most visitors do not have the time or the liver capacity to frequent every single establishment in the city and therefore can end up missing out on some of the best bars and experiences in the city. This list aims to narrow down the selection to just five of the best classy bar establishments in the city, giving you more time to get your drink on and do other things.

Cottons

Situated at 70 Exmouth Market, Cottons’ entrance is at first bland and original looking, until you round the corner and find yourself in an unexpected tropical setting. This bar is well-stacked with over 250 unique types of rum, which is the signature ingredient in most of Cottons’ drinks. There are indoor tables and venues to enjoy both upstairs and downstairs or you can step outside and enjoy your drink at one of the pavement tables adorning the entrance.

Lonsdale

A cocktail bar that manages to keep its environment chic and trendy while maintaining lower prices, Lonsdale is a decorated bar, complete with a vibe that reminds you of some 1970s in an alternate universe. With an 18-page drink menu, you are always able to find a drink to your liking and the friendly staff treats everyone with respect and courtesy. Drink inspirations here come from around the world and are a tribute to England’s conquest throughout the continents. Prices on drinks range from seven to ten pounds and the bar is located in W11.

Lost Society

Situated on Wandsworth Road in SW8, Lost Society is a beautifully-crafted bar with red and black trim adorning the walls, floors and ceiling. Featuring crystal chandeliers and knick knacks lining the shelves, Lost Society is a bar that knows how to use aesthetics. This gentlemen’s club-meets-boudoir carries a lively – yet classy – atmosphere and the range of food and alcoholic beverages served here will make you want to come back for more. Over sixty unique cocktails are available for purchase and can be enjoyed at the bar or at a table with friends, family or new acquaintances.

Milk & Honey

This Soho bar is hidden among the shops and restaurants of Poland Street and can be easily missed if you do not know where to look. This bar requires membership – unless you’re visiting before 11PM – and reservations one week in advance are a must. For 300 pounds annually, you can gain access to this speakeasy and enjoy the hundreds of unique drinks that are on-hand virtually any time. There is a prohibition theme design to the place and the jazz and art décor add to the already personal vibe in the bar.

Shochu Lounge

This Japanese-themed bar makes a great getaway on a busy night, where you can sample a wide array of drinks including Japanese-inspired vodkas and alcohol-based concoctions. Shochu, one of the most popular alcoholic beverages in Japan, is served straight-up or can be mixed into a variety of cocktails and tonics to your liking. Live music is available on the weekends after 20:30 and the vibrant décor gives the bar an authentic feel, as if you were already in a modern Japanese bar in the heart of Tokyo.

If you’re planning on visiting some of the capital’s classiest bars you’ll surely want some top notch accommodation to go with it. The Owner’s Direct website has a wide selection of holiday rentals London so why not see what you can find and take a trip during the next bank holidays UK.
